Large libraries, hotels and travel
centers with multiple public areas and services require a more flexible
and well integrated public network, with specialized capabilities to serve
the transient users.
In an Integrated HotSpot, wired and
wireless computers share the same network with the specialized characteristics
of a Public Access Network.
The Integrated HotSpot includes:
- A network gateway with specialized software for the development of
public access networks. The basic version of the package includes a
license for up to 100 clients. The client computers can be wired or
wireless.
- Two wireless access points (AP) with support for 802.11b and 802.11g
wireless clients.
- Two Power Injectors to provide electrical power to the access points
over the data wires (Power-Over-Ethernet).
- Site survey to identify your needs and to optimize the configuration
and coverage of the wireless cells.
- Installation of the gateway and the access points.
- Initialization and customization of the primary public access features
of the gateway:
- Automatic mapping of the user's network options to allow connection
without reconfiguration through Dynamic Address Translation (DAT).
- Automatic re-routing to your welcome page or Portal for services
and announcements.
- Bandwidth control.
- Peer-to-peer blocking for privacy (VLANs needed for the wired
clients).
- iNtelligent Network Translation (iNAT) with IPSec to support multiple
VPN connections to the same or different servers.
- Connectivity testing with your Internet access device: Cable, DLS
or T-1 Router.
- Instruction session for your network administrator.

You may request additional capabilities that are not included in
the bundled offer.
Examples:
- Most libraries with HotSpots offer this service for free to
their patrons. If you wish to charge, we can develop a Credit
Card Billing option for your site.
- If capacity for 100 users is not sufficient for you, modules
of 50 additional users are available, to a maximum of 200.
