The GS724TP is a member of NetGear's ProSafe Smart Switches family, offering a non-blocking architecture with a 48 Gb/s capacity. The 24 ports of this switch provide data and electrical power for the easy deployement of devices that comply with the IEEE 802.3af standard of Power-over-Ethernet without the additional expenses for electrical wiring. All ports are designed to automatically adjust to the speed of the connected devices from 10 to 1000 Mb/s. This unit is also built with 2 combo Gigabit copper/SFP ports.
The GS724TP implements the IEEE 802.1p standard to prioritize traffic in order to provide reliability and quality for applications that are latency-sensitive such as telephony over IP and video conferencing. A web-based management tool allows for easy configuration and ongoing management and monitoring. This switch is also SNMP compliant to collect and manage data, as well as to monitor traffic and to enforce network policies.
